St Peter’s Church, Barton-upon-Humber, is a former Anglican place of worship in this Lincolnshire town. No longer serving as the parish church, it is managed by English Heritage and presents displays covering its development. Protected as a scheduled monument, it is especially important for the substantial Anglo-Saxon structure that remains.

Its precise age is disputed, though the baptistery is generally assigned to the ninth century and the original tower-based nave to the tenth. The tower combines rubble masonry with render, ornamental vertical stonework and reused Roman-cut blocks. Two surviving tiers of oak timbers once carried upper storeys. A Romanesque level of shaped limestone was added during the early Norman era. Much of the present nave and chancel resulted from rebuilding between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Features include medieval glass fragments portraying St George and St James, a capital carved with a Green Man, sculpted figures within window stonework, a fifteenth-century tomb effigy and screen, and memorials from the later sixteenth century.
