About Church Directory UK
Church Directory UK is a free directory of Christian churches across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our aim is modest and useful: when someone wants to find a church, whether around the corner or in a town they are moving to, the answer should be a minute away.
Who we are
Church Directory UK is an independent directory, not an official service of any denomination or church body. That independence matters to us: a parish church in Cumbria, a Pentecostal fellowship in Croydon and a kirk in Fife all get the same free listing, presented the same way.
Where the data comes from
Listings are drawn from OpenStreetMap, the open map of the world maintained by volunteers, and from submissions made by churches and their congregations. We tidy, de-duplicate and organise the results by county, town and denomination. Building facts and credited photographs may also come from Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. Coverage varies, and an entry does not guarantee current worship or opening hours.
What this directory adds
We bring location records, available contacts and building sources together in one place, with local browsing and practical guides to planning a visit. Pages distinguish recorded facts from information we do not hold. This helps you decide what to check directly before travelling.
Read our editorial approach, including our use of automation and AI assistance, and our data sources and correction process. For questions about the directory, email hello@churchdirectory.co.uk.
How you can help
- Submit a church that is not yet listed.
- Tell us about mistakes through the contact form.
- Share the directory with your congregation and neighbours.
Free, and staying that way
We will never charge a church or a visitor for a listing. If we introduce optional extras for churches one day, the core directory will remain free to everyone.
