About Trinity Methodist Church
Trinity Methodist Church is a mid-nineteenth-century place of Methodist worship on Chapel Lane in Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire. The church is protected as a Grade II listed building, reflecting its architectural and historical significance.
Methodism was established in Barton-upon-Humber by 1760. A Wesleyan chapel opened on the present site in October 1816, when the local society numbered 46 members. Membership had reached several hundred by 1839, prompting an extension. That chapel was removed in 1860, and its replacement opened early the following year. The present church is built of light-coloured brick beneath a Welsh slate roof, with a pedimented frontage divided by Doric pilasters. Its five bays feature arched windows, while the three central openings have been infilled above panelled entrance doors.
