About All Saints

All Saints is a Church of England parish church in Little Casterton, near Stamford in Rutland. It remains the village’s parish church and is protected as a Grade II* listed building. Among the county’s smaller churches, it has a compact form without a tower.

The north aisle dates from the later 12th century, while the south aisle, chancel and western bell-cote were built during the 13th century. A clerestory followed in the 15th century. Restoration in 1810–11 included lengthening the chancel and reconstructing the north aisle, and the porch was replaced in 1837. Inside, a carved tympanum depicts the Tree of Life between groups of three circles. Christopher Whall designed stained glass for both the eastern and western windows, with the former commemorating Hubert Eaton. Two bells hang in the bell-cote, one cast by Tobias Norris.
