About Saint John the Evangelist
Saint John the Evangelist stands on Overend Road in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. It is an active Anglican parish church within the Church of England and has Grade II listed status. The building remains a place of worship for its parish while also being recognised for its historic and architectural interest.
Construction took place during 1867 and 1868. The design was the work of architect Robert Clarke in partnership with Robert Charles Clarke, his son. A pipe organ made by Brindley & Foster was installed soon afterwards and dates from 1869, making it a notable feature from the church’s earliest period. The congregation commemorated the building’s 150th anniversary in September 2019.
