About Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints is an Anglican parish church at Appleton Roebuck, a village to the south-west of York in North Yorkshire. It retains its role as the local parish church and was designated a Grade II listed building in 1978.
The present building dates from 1868 and was created to plans by architects John Bownas and William Atkinson. Before its construction, Appleton Roebuck belonged to Bolton Percy parish; in 1875, the new parish was joined with neighbouring Acaster Selby. Sandstone walls, a tiled covering and red brickwork within form the main fabric. The layout includes a nave of four bays, a southern entrance porch, a two-bay chancel and a vestry on the north side. Above the western clock is a paired bell opening. Interior features include a hammerbeam timber roof and dark marble columns carrying the arch into the chancel. Geometrical tracery appears in the windows, and Charles Eamer Kempe designed stained glass for one nave window.
