About All Saints
All Saints is an active Church of England parish church in Rufforth, a village to the west of York in North Yorkshire. Serving the local parish, it has been protected as a Grade II listed building since 1987.
Christian worship on this site dates back to the twelfth century. The previous church underwent repairs in 1832 but later became dilapidated. It was taken down and replaced during 1894 and 1895 with a Gothic Revival building by architects James Demaine and Walter Brierley, planned for 120 people. Its stonework includes material salvaged from the medieval structure. Earlier elements also survive in two small Norman doorways and three reused windows. The layout includes a nave divided into four bays, an aisle, chancel and southern porch. On the south stands a tower with a stair turret and small spire. Inside, carved figures and bosses decorate the oak tunnel-vaulted roof. Renovation followed in 1998, while three further bells were added in 2008, bringing the total to six.
