The Church of St. Lawrence is an Anglican parish church on Lydeard Down Hill in the Taunton area of Somerset. Dating to 1350, it remains part of a Church of England benefice serving several neighbouring parishes. Its architectural and historic importance is recognised through its Grade I listing.
The nave and chancel survive from the original fourteenth-century building. During the fifteenth century, a northern aisle, porches on both sides and a west tower of three stages were added. A restoration was carried out in 1869. Interior features include a medieval piscina and an early sixteenth-century screen. The font has been turned upside down, with a replacement basin cut into its former base, probably after damage during restoration. Outside, the churchyard contains part of a fourteenth-century cross with an octagonal red sandstone shaft, several unidentified seventeenth and eighteenth-century graves, and a Hamstone chest tomb commemorating John and Grace North.
