About All Saints
All Saints stands on Staple Fitzpaine Road in Curland, near Taunton, Somerset. Formerly serving as a Church of England parish church, it closed for worship in 1972. After a period as a store, it was adapted as a private residence in 1991. It has been protected at Grade II since 1955.
Completed in 1856 to replace a decaying church, the present building was designed by Benjamin Ferrey and follows the footprint of its predecessor. Older masonry was incorporated, together with stone and several windows recovered from Buckland St Mary. The Perpendicular-style structure has flint walling, Hamstone trim and roofing of clay tiles. Inside its compact plan are a nave of three bays and a chancel, while a porch faces south. A modest two-bell turret rises over the western gable. James Powell and Sons supplied the glazing for the newly made eastern window.
