About St Giles

St Giles is an Anglican parish church in Cropwell Bishop, Nottinghamshire, in the Nottingham area. The church belongs to the Wiverton group, alongside several neighbouring parishes, and its incumbency is currently unfilled. Recognised for its exceptional architectural significance, the building has Grade I listed status.

The earliest surviving elements are the arcades, which originated in the thirteenth century, while the greater part of the structure dates to the fourteenth. Its plan includes a central nave, aisles to the north and south, a chancel, a porch on the southern side and a tower erected around 1450. Six bells hang in the tower, ranging in date from the sixteenth century to 1981. A timepiece made by Richard Roe operated there between 1694 and 1906; it is preserved at Nottingham Industrial Museum.
