Dating from the medieval period, it remains an active place of worship and is protected as a Grade II listed building. It forms part of a shared benefice alongside churches in Keyworth and Bunny, as well as Bradmore Mission Room.
The church has its origins in the eleventh century, with the directory recording a foundation date of 1001. Restoration work was undertaken in 1889, followed by further restoration in 1952. The surrounding churchyard contains several groups of historic gravestones which have also received Grade II listed status, giving statutory protection to both the church itself and these associated monuments.
