About St Giles' Church, Darlton
St Giles’ Church, Darlton is a Church of England parish church in Darlton, Newark, Nottinghamshire. The church continues in its parish role and is recognised as a building of particular architectural and historic importance through its Grade II* listed status.
Its origins lie in the early 13th century. In 1863, the nave and chancel were reconstructed to designs by the Nottingham architect Thomas Chambers Hine. The surrounding burial ground includes three chest tombs, each separately protected at Grade II. Its boundary walls and lychgate also have Grade II designation, giving the church and several features within its immediate setting their own statutory protection.
