About All Saints

All Saints is an active Church of England parish church in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Dating from the medieval period, it is protected as a Grade II* listed building and continues to serve its parish today.

The church originated in the 1200s and underwent restoration in 1837. Further work followed in 1856, when the chancel was renovated and the vestry reconstructed. Its many memorials include monuments to members of the Darwin family, several made by Wallis of Newark, together with a bust of Erasmus Darwin displayed on a marble support beside the altar. Other memorials are positioned throughout the nave, aisles, chancel and tower. The organ, built by Bishop and Starr, dates to 1872.
