About The Parish of All Saints Pavement

The Parish of All Saints Pavement is an active Church of England parish church on High Ousegate in York, North Yorkshire. Dating from the early 14th century, it is protected as a Grade I listed building. Worship follows the Book of Common Prayer. The church also serves York in civic and guild roles and is associated with the Royal Dragoon Guards as their regimental church.

The chancel was removed and the eastern end reconstructed in 1780, while the western end and north wall were rebuilt in 1834. Its distinctive tower lantern, intended to guide travellers, was reconstructed three years later. A vestry followed during the early 1850s. George Edmund Street directed restoration work in 1887, including cleaning the masonry and renewing the pinnacles. Charles Eamer Kempe supplied stained glass for the main eastern window. Further enlargement took place in 1912. Inside are memorials dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries and an organ with 18th-century origins that has undergone several rebuilds.
