About St Peter
St Peter is an active Church of England parish church in Warmsworth, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Located on Balby Road, it received Grade II listed protection in 2003.
The parish’s medieval church underwent Georgian restoration and Victorian rebuilding. Its successor was commissioned in 1939 by the Reverend Herbert Raison on land around half a mile away, with construction financed through the sale of the former site. Brundell & Faran prepared the design, P. P. Taylor carried out the work, and the church was consecrated in 1942. White-painted, rendered brickwork gives the building its local nickname, while blue and green pantiles form the roof covering. A spacious nave leads towards a chancel crowned by an octagonal dome, with a Lady Chapel and vestry alongside. Earlier fittings include a nineteenth-century stone font, memorial stones and a medieval piscina.
