About Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity is a Church of England parish church serving Yearsley, located on Well Lane in York, North Yorkshire. Originally established as a chapel, it later became the village’s parish church. The building has held Grade II listed status since 1988.

Constructed in 1839, the church initially served as a chapel of ease within the parish of St Michael’s, Coxwold. Yearsley gained a separate parish in 1960. Built from stone and roofed in Welsh slate, the structure comprises a nave, chancel and many-sided apse beneath a continuous roof, together with a northern porch and southern vestry. A bellcote rises over the western gable, supported by buttresses. The porch bears a dated plaque featuring a unicorn’s head, while the windows incorporate Y-shaped tracery. Interior fittings include an altar rail from about 1700, a tub-shaped font and a pew back made from part of a seventeenth-century chest.
