Heslington Church on Field Lane is an active parish church in Heslington, York. Its ministry extends across the village, newer residential areas, neighbouring farms and the University of York’s Heslington campus. Anglican and Methodist congregations have worshipped together here since 1971, using a liturgy devised jointly. The Church of England building has Grade II listed status.
Dating from 1858, the church preserves its Victorian character when viewed from the south. During the 1970s, church architect Ronald Sims transformed the northern side by demolishing its wall and constructing accommodation for gatherings, a kitchen and a vestry. This extension features visible breeze-block construction and concrete lintels. The former chancel area was converted into an independent chapel, while worshippers in the principal space were seated in a curved arrangement facing an altar placed towards the north. The united congregation took its present name after joining with Heslington Methodist Chapel, whose former premises later became the village meeting room.
