About Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints is a Church of England parish church in Bolton Percy, near York in North Yorkshire. Known locally for its scale and architectural quality, it remains the village’s parish church and has held Grade I listed status since 1967.
A church stood here by the late 11th century, while the present medieval building was completed during the rectorship of Thomas Percy and consecrated in 1424. Constructed from Magnesian limestone with stone-slate roofs, the church has an embattled western tower, an aisled four-bay nave, a southern porch and a three-bay chancel. Its mainly Perpendicular windows include a large five-light eastern window, one of 14 stained-glass windows. William Warrington restored the east window in 1866, with wider restoration led by James Demaine and Walter Brierley in 1890 and John Bilson in 1905. Inside are a Norman font, Jacobean box pews and a Baroque memorial to Ferdinando Fairfax.
