About Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints serves Nether Silton in North Yorkshire as a Church of England place of worship. It has held Grade II listed status since 1970, reflecting its architectural and historic significance.
A chapel serving the village was documented in 1786, when Nether Silton formed part of the parish centred on St Mary’s at Leake, an arrangement that continued until 1933. The present church dates from 1812 and was enlarged in 1873. Its masonry includes some much earlier stones of uncertain origin. Built in stone beneath a Welsh slate roof, it comprises a nave, chancel and porch on the north side. A bellcote with chamfered edges rises above the western gable and is topped by a small obelisk. Inside stands a Norman tub-shaped font decorated with heavy cable moulding. Its provenance is unclear, though it may have come from Leake.
