About Church of Saint Andrew
The Church of Saint Andrew is a Church of England parish church serving Langton, near Malton in North Yorkshire. It is protected as a Grade II listed building, a designation granted in 1966.
A medieval place of worship previously occupied the site, and some of its masonry was incorporated when the building was reconstructed in 1822. Sandstone walls and a stone-slate roof enclose the nave and chancel, while a three-tiered tower rises at the western end. Its details include an arched entrance, a window with two lights and quatrefoil tracery, pointed bell openings and a battlemented parapet. Inside are a rectangular font dating from the 13th century and timber panelling from the 1600s. Memorials include the chest tomb of Mary Ingram, who died in 1656, alongside two monuments dating from the 1820s.
