About St Dionis, Parsons Green
St Dionis, Parsons Green is a Church of England church in Fulham, within London’s Greater London area. Located at Parsons Green, it is protected as a Grade II listed building and is dedicated to Saint Denis, the third-century missionary traditionally associated with France.
The church was completed in 1886 to plans by Ewan Christian, who chose the Perpendicular Gothic style. It succeeded an earlier building dating from 1876, which was retained as a mission hall. Construction was funded by selling the site of St Dionis Backchurch, a medieval City of London parish church rebuilt by Christopher Wren following the Great Fire and demolished as unsafe in 1878. Its font and pulpit were transferred to Parsons Green and remain there. The adjoining vicarage was added in 1898–99.
