About Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church is a Church of England parish church on Church Street in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Serving an extensive rural parish in central Sussex, it remains a place of Anglican worship and is protected at Grade I for its exceptional historic and architectural interest.

A church was established here by the late 11th century and belonged to Lewes Priory around that time. The present building was largely constructed during the 13th century, with substantial enlargement by about 1340. Its features include aisles, chapels beside the chancel, a clerestory, a western tower and a slender broach spire. Further changes were made in the 15th century, when the aisle walls and roofline were raised. Victorian restoration introduced extensive interior decoration by Charles Eamer Kempe, whose glass appears alongside windows by Clayton and Bell. After a fire, the spire was renewed in 1981.
