The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Holy Royal Martyrs is a Russian Orthodox cathedral at 57 Harvard Road in Chiswick, West London. It belongs to the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia and is dedicated to the birth of the Theotokos and to the final Romanov family, killed by the Bolsheviks in July 1918. Services are generally celebrated in Church Slavonic, with an English liturgy on each month’s third Sunday. Sunday sermons are delivered in both English and Russian.
The congregation’s roots in London date to 1920, when it began worshipping in a leased Anglican church near Buckingham Palace Road. A later cathedral at Emperor’s Gate operated from 1959 until 1989. The present church opened in 1999, received an initial consecration in 2003 and was fully consecrated two years later.
