About Trinity Church
Trinity Church is an independent Pentecostal congregation in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood, Essex. Formerly called Peniel Pentecostal Church, it has been associated at different times with the Assemblies of God, the International Communion of Charismatic Churches and the Evangelical Alliance. It withdrew from the Evangelical Alliance following disagreements involving its leadership, but was later accepted again after changes in oversight.
The church was established by Michael Reid, who led it until April 2008, when he relinquished his pastoral role and board position after an affair was disclosed. Peter Linnecar then assumed his duties. Disputed appointments to assistant pastoral posts caused further division in 2009, and roughly 300 members departed. The congregation subsequently took its current name and reported renewed stability under its replacement leadership. Governance has included eight lay leaders, with separate trustees holding responsibility for the organisation’s legal charitable obligations.
