About Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Braintree
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church serves a Catholic parish in the Essex town of Braintree. It continues in use as an active place of worship. David Manson has served as the parish priest from 2016, following ten earlier priests associated with the parish since its beginnings.
The church welcomed worshippers for the first time in 1939. It is considered likely to have been Britain’s final church opening before hostilities began in Europe later that year. In 1953, a house for the parish priest was established alongside the church’s other facilities. This presbytery later became the official postal address of the parish.
