About All Saints Church, Frindsbury

All Saints Church, Frindsbury is an active Church of England parish church in Rochester, Kent. It serves Frindsbury, Upnor and Chattenden as a united parish. Dating back to the late 11th century, it remains a significant local place of worship and is protected as a Grade II* listed building.

A Norman stone church was established around 1075 and recorded in the Domesday survey of 1086. Further rebuilding followed in 1127, with additional work during the 14th and early 15th centuries. The chancel, nave and lower tower retain Norman fabric, while the south aisle and tower staircase are later medieval additions. Built from flint and ragstone rubble with Caen stone and ragstone detailing, the church has north and south aisles and a western tower crowned by a shingled spire. A substantial restoration took place in 1884, when the north aisle was added or reconstructed. Wall paintings depicting three saints had been uncovered the previous year.
