About Holy Trinity Church, Rothwell, West Yorkshire

Holy Trinity Church, Rothwell, is an active Church of England parish church in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It belongs to the Diocese of Leeds and the Archdeaconry of Leeds, and is protected as a Grade II listed building.

Christian worship on the site dates back to 1130. The present sandstone ashlar church, roofed with slate, was substantially reconstructed to plans by C. R. Chorley and completed in 1873, while retaining some fabric from the late medieval period. Its three-stage western tower has diagonal buttresses, a clock face on the southern side and paired cusped openings at belfry level. Inside, octagonal columns support arcades with double-chamfered arches. The nave retains a late medieval ceiling with shaped beams and carved bosses, while the font dates from 1662. A lychgate was added in 1889.
