About St Mary's Church, Mildenhall
St Mary’s Church, Mildenhall, is an active Church of England parish church in Suffolk, in the Bury St Edmunds area. It is protected as a Grade I listed building and belongs to the Mildenhall Team Ministry, which brings together several neighbouring parishes.
Although its origins are associated with the medieval period, the present church is principally a fourteenth-century building. Memorials include an alabaster tomb for Sir Henry North, who died in 1620, depicting him with members of his family, and a cenotaph to Sir Henry Barton, twice Lord Mayor of London. The church also contains an 1865 pipe organ by Henry Willis. Its tower holds ten bells: eight were made by Mears & Stainbank from 1887 to 1913, while two trebles cast by Gillett & Johnston were added in 1946 to commemorate peace after the Second World War.
