About St Mark's Church
St Mark’s Church is an active Anglican parish church in Oldcotes, near Worksop in Nottinghamshire. Dating from about 1900, it is protected as a Grade II listed building. The church shares a parish with St John the Evangelist in Carlton in Lindrick and St Luke’s in Langold.
Designed by Charles Hodgson Fowler, the building combines brick and timber framing, with plaster between the timbers and a tiled roof. Its brickwork has since been finished in white render. The nave and chancel sit beneath one continuous roof, accompanied by a north porch and vestry, while a bellcote rises at the western end. Distinctive details include bracketed overhanging eaves, timber-mullioned windows with leaded glazing, a diamond-shaped west window and a quatrefoil opening above the eastern chancel. Inside are a decorative roof truss and a canopy over the altar.
