About St Michael and All Angels

St Michael and All Angels is an active Anglican parish church in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. It is within the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham and has belonged to the united parish of Wiverton in the Vale since 2017. The building holds Grade II status in recognition of its architectural importance.

Although medieval in origin, the church underwent substantial alterations between 1855 and 1857. Render was applied to give the walls the appearance of cut stone, and the current brick-built tower dates from that work. Inside, surviving masonry includes part of the arcade that once opened into a southern aisle, since removed. The narrower chancel contains timber communion rails dating from the Jacobean period. There are two bells, one dated 1702 and another cast in 1850. A memorial clock was added in 1969, while the eastern stained-glass window portrays Paul speaking in Athens.
