About St Mary Magdalene

St Mary Magdalene is a Church of England church in Keyworth, in the Nottingham area of Nottinghamshire. Dating from around 1350, it holds Grade I listed status. The church shares its rector with the churches at Bunny and Stanton on the Wolds, as well as Bradmore Mission Room.

The building is chiefly medieval, and its fourteenth-century tower has been described as unlike any other in Nottinghamshire. George Frederick Bodley directed an extensive restoration from 1871 to 1874, renewing the roofs and creating the chancel arch. Further work included a stone floor, a south-west window and improved lighting. Early stained glass was produced by Burlison and Grylls, who also made the east window. The oak lectern was donated by Miss Burnside of Ratcliffe, while the pulpit commemorates R. T. Flinders. A clock made by G. & F. Cope was installed in 1893 and needed winding once every eight days.
