About Church of St Andrew
The Church of St Andrew is a Church of England parish church serving Ingleby Greenhow in North Yorkshire. Recognised for its historic and architectural importance, it has held Grade I listed status since 1966.
Dating from the later 1100s, the church retains its original chancel arch, nave arcade and the lower section of its western turret. The chancel was reconstructed during the 1200s, while much of the rest of the building was renewed in 1741. Temple Moore designed the vestry added in 1906. Built in stone, the church includes a nave, north aisle, south porch, chancel and north vestry. The turret is topped by a pyramid-shaped roof and finial. Inside are a medieval tub font and two notable effigies: one commemorating the priest Willimus Wrelton, who died around 1300, and another depicting a knight, probably carved in the 1400s.
