About Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints is the Church of England parish church serving Hunmanby, in the Filey area of North Yorkshire. Still in use as a parish church, it has held Grade II* listed status since 1966.
Dating largely from the late eleventh century, the church retains early fabric in its nave and chancel. Its sandstone walls and tiled roof encompass a north aisle, south porch, chancel and three-storey western tower. The tower originated in the twelfth century and gained its upper section during the fifteenth century; it is crowned by a battlemented parapet and decorated corner pinnacles. The porch and partial reconstruction of the chancel followed in the eighteenth century. An extensive restoration in 1845 included replacement windows, a rebuilt northern wall and renewed interior fittings. Notable survivals include carved cross fragments set into the north wall, a damaged Norman font, a chained Bible from 1541 and two memorials of the 1770s.
