Washingborough Methodist Church is an active Methodist congregation based on Main Road in Washingborough, a Lincolnshire village roughly three miles east of Lincoln. Washingborough occupies the lower ground of the Lincoln Cliff, close to the point where the Witham passes through the limestone ridge. From the heart of the village, there are views towards the southern elevation and three spires of Lincoln Cathedral. Washingborough also adjoins Heighington, creating a single developed area.
The church was founded in 1857 and belongs to the area’s broader Methodist circuit. It provides the village with a Methodist place of worship alongside the Anglican church of St John the Evangelist. Its establishment came during the period when Washingborough was served by the railway route connecting Lincoln with Peterborough through Boston and Spalding.
