About St Catherines Methodist Church And Adjoining Church Hall
St Catherines Methodist Church And Adjoining Church Hall stands in Lincoln, serving the Boultham and St Catherine’s neighbourhoods. Formerly used for Methodist worship, the Grade II listed property now operates under the name Southside, providing space for community activities alongside business use.
Completed and opened in 1887, the church was planned by Charles Bell with room for a congregation of 600. The prominent tower and spire were constructed after the main building. Its substantial size earned it the local nickname of Lincoln’s second cathedral. Religious services ended when the building became redundant in 1982. It was later converted into a warehouse selling DIY goods, then remained unoccupied for a period before taking on its current role.
