About Saint Andrew's Parish Church

Saint Andrew’s Parish Church is a Church of England parish church in Derby, Leicestershire. It remains a place of worship and is recognised as a Grade II* listed building, reflecting its considerable architectural and historic importance.

The oldest surviving fabric is the tower base, which dates from at least the thirteenth century. Most of the church was constructed during the following two centuries. In the fifteenth century, the nave walls were heightened to form a clerestory and the original steep roof was replaced. A substantial restoration in 1859–60 removed the galleries, introduced open benches and renewed most of the fourteen carved roof bosses depicting musicians. Further work was carried out on the tower and spire in 1875 and 1886. Notable fittings include royal arms from 1685, restored in 1935, and a two-manual pipe organ built by Roger Yates in 1953. The tower houses eight bells, six cast in 1875 and two added in 1939.
