About St Mary's and All Saints Church, Boxley

St Mary’s and All Saints Church, Boxley, is a Church of England parish church near Maidstone in Kent. It is protected as a Grade I listed building, reflecting its architectural and historic importance.

The present building originated in the 13th century, with further work carried out during the following two centuries and restoration undertaken in the 1870s. Its walls combine local ragstone and flint, beneath roofs covered with plain tiles. A three-stage west tower has corner buttresses, a crenellated parapet and an adjoining stair turret. The western narthex preserves Norman arcade remains from an earlier church. Inside are 13th-century nave arcades and aisle roofs, alongside a 15th-century nave roof. Six bells are arranged for English full-circle ringing. The church also contains several historic memorials, while its separately listed lychgate dates from 1875.
