St Mary’s Parish Church, Ashford is a Church of England parish church in Ashford, Kent. Also dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, it remains the town’s parish church and is protected as a Grade I listed building, recognising its special historic and architectural importance. Its long-established role is reflected in the documented presence of Christian worship on this site across many centuries.
The present church originated in the later thirteenth century, with the directory date of 1250 placing its foundation within that period. An earlier church had already occupied the site by 1086, when it was recorded in the Domesday survey. In the early seventeenth century, Comfort Starr, who came from Cranbrook and later helped establish Harvard College, served here as a churchwarden.
