About Holy Trinity
Holy Trinity is an active Church of England parish church in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Standing on elevated ground near the shoreline and behind the Royal Yacht Squadron, it overlooks the Solent. The Grade II listed church, designated in 1951, shares its parish grouping with St Mary the Virgin in Cowes.
Designed by Benjamin Bramble and completed in 1832, the church is built from yellow Isle of Wight brick in the Gothic style. Its exterior includes twelve buttresses, a battlemented tower and nave walls measuring 100 feet in length, while the column-free nave creates a bright, open interior. Memorial tablets commemorate former Royal Yacht Squadron members, and the gardens contain a stone monument to sailors who died during the storm-hit 1979 Fastnet Race. A three-manual Gray & Davison organ dating from 1884 also survives.
