St Alban’s Church is a Church of England parish church in Southampton’s Swaythling area, at 186 Honeysuckle Road. The church remains a place of worship, with a Sunday service at 8.00 am. Together with its adjoining hall, it forms part of a Grade II listed group of buildings.
The parish was established in 1932, largely from South Stoneham parish, and the church was finished the following year. Nugent Francis Cachemaille-Day designed it early in his career, with construction by Southampton firm GE Prince & Sons. Its late Gothic design follows a Latin cross layout, with a wide, low tower above the crossing. The altar was placed beneath this tower, nearer the congregation, while the eastern section became a Lady chapel. Christopher Webb created the east window, whose figures include Christ, the Virgin Mary, St Boniface, St Alban and St Wilfrid.
