About St Patrick's Church, Leeds
St Patrick’s Church, Leeds is a Roman Catholic parish church on Torre Road, in the eastern part of Leeds, West Yorkshire. The active parish celebrates two weekend Masses, one at 6.00 pm on Saturday and another at 10.00 am on Sunday.
The present church was completed in 2001 as a replacement for an earlier building on Rider Street. The former church was constructed between 1889 and 1891 to plans by architect John Kelly, whose other commissions included Catholic churches in London. It opened in 1891 and is protected at Grade II. In April 2001, the parish transferred to Torre Road: the Rider Street building ceased operating, and its successor welcomed worshippers on the following day. The former premises were later occupied by the West Yorkshire Playhouse, with East Street Arts nearby.
