About St Mark's Church
St Mark's Church is an active Church of England parish church in Washwood Heath, Birmingham. Its worship follows the Anglo-Catholic tradition, and episcopal oversight is provided by the Bishop of Oswestry. The parish was established in 1907 using territory previously belonging to St Saviour’s in Saltley.
Construction began in 1890 to designs by Julius Alfred Chatwin. Four years later, the nave gained two additional bays together with aisles on both sides. Further enlargement took place during 1898 and 1899, extending the nave and aisles and adding a baptistry and steeple. The completed church was consecrated in 1899. It also housed a pipe organ made by F. W. Ebrall.
