About St Agnes' Church, Moseley
St Agnes' Church, Moseley is an active Anglican parish church in Moseley, Birmingham, within the West Midlands. It belongs to the Church of England and is protected as a Grade II listed building. The parish follows the conservative evangelical tradition.
William Davis designed the church in a Decorated Gothic form. Construction began in 1883, with the building opening the following year. Its east window, depicting Christ in glory, was created by the Edinburgh firm Ballantine and Gardiner for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Charles Bateman completed the western tower in 1932, while James A. Swan designed the 1938 churchyard lychgate and several interior fittings added in 1939. Bombing damaged the building in 1940, but provisional repairs allowed it to reopen in March 1941. The tower holds two John Taylor bells dating from 1921. A three-manual William Hill & Sons pipe organ, originally made for a Leicester church in 1871, arrived here in 1994.
