About All Saints Church

All Saints Church is a Church of England parish church on West Avenue in Gosforth, north of central Newcastle upon Tyne. Consecrated in 1887, it continues to serve the local community and belongs to the Diocese of Newcastle and Newcastle Central Deanery. The church is protected as a Grade II listed building. Its grounds also include an Edwardian hall, a memorial garden and a green.

Designed by diocesan architect Robert J. Johnson, the church is a substantial Gothic Revival building from the late Victorian period. It was created as Gosforth’s population expanded during the nineteenth century, following concerns that St Nicholas in South Gosforth was no longer large enough for the parish. A tower was added in 1896 and contains ten bells. Inside are Victorian wooden carvings by Ralph Hedley, an organ made by Harrison & Harrison, and stained glass illustrating saints from different periods. It later became the parent church for four further churches in Gosforth.
