St Helen’s, Ipswich is a Church of England place of worship on St Helens Street, Ipswich, in Suffolk. The church holds Grade II listed status.
Medieval work remains within the structure, but nineteenth-century alterations substantially changed its appearance. The walls are formed from roughly coursed, dressed flint, complemented by white brick and stone detailing. William Swarston, a married clergyman, was serving there when Mary I took power in 1553. Measures directed at clergy with wives resulted in William Barker succeeding him the following year. By 1556, the priest was Richard Argentine, who had moved from advocating Protestant ideas to firmly supporting Catholicism. He is recorded in connection with the treatment of Agnes Wardall during July of that year.
