About St. Nicholas Church
St. Nicholas Church is in Bristol, Somerset, and is a Grade II* listed building. Now redundant, the church has been cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust since 1989. It serves as a local venue for the arts, while worship usually takes place twice each year. Weddings may also be held with special permission.
The church originated in the 12th century and retains its Norman character. Its tower, crowned with pinnacles, was added during the 15th century. The Pigott family oversaw extensive renovation in the 1820s. Notable fittings include a Norman font, a stone pulpit made around 1480, and royal arms painted by William Edkins in 1842.
