About St Michael's Church
St Michael’s Church is a Church of England parish church in Rudbaxton, Pembrokeshire. It serves the combined parish of Daugleddau within the Diocese of St Davids and holds Grade I listed status, recognising its substantial medieval form and notable memorials.
A church existed here by the 12th century, when the site was associated with the Knights Hospitallers, although much of the present structure dates from the late 1400s or early 1500s. Built from rubble stone beneath slate roofs, it has two naves and a two-level tower with a vaulted ground floor. Its 12th-century font is rectangular, with scalloped decoration and a circular base. Restoration followed a period of ruin in the 19th century: Ewan Christian renewed the chancel arch and roofs in 1845, while R. G. Pinder replaced roofs and many fittings in 1892. Memorials include monuments to the Howard and Picton families, alongside a plaque commemorating six parishioners killed during the First World War.
