About St Mary's Church
St Mary’s Church is a Church of England parish church in Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire. Dating from the thirteenth century, it is protected at Grade I for its outstanding historic and architectural significance. The church has belonged to the Monkton Rectorial Benefice since 2004.
Built of stone beneath a slate-covered roof, the church retains two early windows in its southern wall, while most of the others were replaced during the nineteenth century. Its north-eastern tower was added in the mid-fourteenth century and houses eight bells, installed in stages between 1763 and 1897. A font surviving from the late Norman period is another notable feature. After deterioration led to closure in 1875, the building underwent substantial restoration overseen by John Loughborough Pearson and reopened four years later. The western porch, now providing the principal entrance, was constructed in 1926.
