About St Decuman's Church
St Decuman’s Church is a Church of England church in Angle, Pembrokeshire. Dedicated to Saint Decuman, it has Grade I listed status and is cared for by the Friends of Friendless Churches. The site has early Christian origins and once served as the bishop’s house for the Penfro cantref. Medieval Welsh law counted it among Dyfed’s seven chief churches.
Dating from around 1201, the church has a nave and chancel thought to be thirteenth-century, while its transept, chapel and tower may date from the fourteenth century. Rubble stone walls support a slated roof topped by a bellcote. Restoration began in 1852, followed by roof replacement in 1870 and further work in 1910. Features include two medieval fonts, several tombs and memorials, and a Baroque monument dated 1716. Its windows span the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
