About All Saints
All Saints is an active Church of England parish church on Church Street in Retford, Nottinghamshire. It holds Grade II* listed status, recognising the building’s particular architectural and historic importance. The church shares its parish arrangements with a group of neighbouring churches, including places of worship in North Leverton, North Wheatley, East Retford, Askham and Babworth.
The building has origins in the twelfth century. Its chancel underwent restoration in 1868 under the architect Ewan Christian. Further work followed in 1897, when C. Scholefield oversaw the restoration of the other parts of the church. These two Victorian campaigns renewed the medieval building in separate stages, first concentrating on the area around the altar before addressing the rest of the structure.
